Jaguar SS100 Re-Creation by Suffolk Sportscars
This Jaguar SS100 re-creation was built by Suffolk Sportcars of Woodbridge, England, and was first sold in the UK before it was purchased by the seller and imported to the US in October 2013. The car is finished in British Racing Green over a tan leather interior, and power comes from a 4.2-liter XK inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with electric overdrive. Features include a Lucas driving lamp and headlights, a folding windshield with Brooklands-style driving screens, an engine-turned aluminum dashboard, and an auxiliary electric cooling fan. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale along with a check of the fluid levels and brakes. This SS100 re-creation is now offered with a black mohair top, side curtains, wind wings, a tonneau cover, a bonnet cover, and a New Hampshire title in the seller’s name listing it as a 1965 Jaguar.
Suffolk Sportcars crafted fiberglass-bodied SS100 replicas utilizing the drivelines of Jaguar saloons for 20 years before ceasing production in 2020. This example is finished in British Racing Green and features Lucas QK596 headlights with stone guards, a Lucas Flamethrower driving lamp, a polished radiator surround, a folding windshield, Brooklands-style driving screens, wind wings, dual taillights with turn signals, and a chrome luggage rack. A black mohair top and side curtains are included in the sale along with a black mohair boot and tonneau cover, as well as an inclement-weather bonnet cover. Stone chips are noted by the seller, and a walk-around video is viewable here.
Chrome wire wheels with two-eared knock-off hubs are mounted with Blockley Special 5.50-18 bias-ply tires, and a spare wheel is mounted out back. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs mounted behind plates that give the appearance of drums.
The right-hand-drive cabin is trimmed in tan leather with green carpets and was reportedly treated with Lexol leather conditioner by the seller. An engine-turned aluminium dashboard is fitted ahead of the wood-rimmed steering wheel.
Silver Smiths replica SS instrumentation includes a tachometer with a 4,500-rpm redline, an oil pressure gauge, a 120-mph speedometer, and readouts for fuel level, amperage, and water temperature. Just over 22,500 miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, approximately 2,200 of which were added by the seller.
The 4.2-liter XK inline-six was sourced from a 1965 Jaguar and was reportedly rebuilt by VSE in the UK prior to installation by Suffolk Sportcars. Twin SU carburetors are mounted with Ram-Flo air cleaners. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. A cold-start video can be viewed here.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Jaguar “short box” four-speed manual transmission with Laycock electric overdrive. The steel ladder chassis was lubricated by the seller in preparation for the sale. Additional underside photos are viewable in the gallery, and a walk-around video is viewable below.
